PRESIDENT

CHARLES NAYLOR (ENGLAND)

Charles passed away on Wednesday 14th of March 2007.    
Charles was a founder member of the Karate Union of Great Britain and of the World and European Shotokan Karate-Do Associations.
Charles’s love and enthusiasm for karate motivated all those working with him to promote and develop Traditional Shotokan Karate in the World   Charles was a very friendly and amiable man and we know that his many friends and students will be shocked with his passing. He did however live a very happy and fulfilling life and we must celebrate this fact.

He attained Shodan JKA from Kanazawa Sensei in 1966 and Nidan from Nakayama Sensei in 1968. He progressed through the ranks and is now Roku dan JKA.
He became a Class A International Referee at a course in Belgium in 1978 under Nakayama Sensei and has officiated in many international championships over the years.

Charles was elected President of ESKA at its inauguration in 1986 and President of WSKA in 1991.
His aim is to unite as many Shotokan Karateka as possible under the banners of ESKA & WSKA.
He is proud of the high technical standard of Karate and also the excellent sportsmanship and behaviour of the members of WSKA and is sure there will be continuous development & improvement in the years to come.


VICE PRESIDENT

JOHN HANRATTY (CANADA)
6th dan CSKA, AJKA.
One of the founder members of WSKA and one of the first vice presidents.

Also hosted the first World championships in Calgary Alberta 1991. At that time 27 countries participated and the event was a huge success with England taking the team gold and Canada taking 3rd place. Frank Brennan was awarded best overall competitor.

DIRK DE MITS (BELGIUM)

He attained Shodan JKA from Miyazaki Sensei in 1975. He is now Go dan JKA.

Dirk was elected Vice-President of ESKA in 1987. In 1995 he was elected as Director of administration & finance of ESKA. And Director of administration & finance of WSKA in 1991.

AFRICA : MALCOLM DORFMANN (SOUTH AFRICA)

Malcolm Dorfman Sensei captained the University of the Witwatersrand Judo team in 1966, and thereafter joined the University karate club.
Malcolm Dorfman Sensei opted to go with the Karate No Michi World Federation. In February 1994 he was graded to 7th Dan JKA. In 2000 he became 8th Dan by the Japanese Master Panel (International Shihankai) under Yahara Sensei.

He was elected as Regional Director of WSKA in 2001.

TED HEDLUND (SWEDEN)

Is now Roku dan JKA.
Ted was elected as Director of Technical Matters of ESKA at its inauguration in 1986.
